Foster Farm South focuses on those who want to learn how to ride a horse safely and competently. We also teach those riders who aspire to show American Saddlebred horses on local and national levels. In addition to our Saddleseat Program, we offer a select number of hunt seat, dressage and western lessons. Lessons If you are 5 years old or older, you are able to take lessons. Private Riding Lessons last for 1/2 an hour and the instructor is with the student the entire time. We have a terrific group of seasoned lesson horses that provide riders with safety and encourage confidence. Lessons are held year round in the indoor or outdoor arenas. Students are expected to dress in appropriate riding wear for all lessons. This riding wear includes an approved helmet, hard sole boots, long fitted pants or jodhpurs pants, and gloves. After the third lesson, it is expected that the student be outfitted in the appropriate riding boots and jodhpurs pants. For the safety and comfort of horses and riders, lessons will be rescheduled if it's below 35 degrees or over 100 degrees. All lessons need to be paid in full before the lesson has begun. We kindly ask that a 24 hour notice is given for all cancellations. Semi-Private instruction with more than two riders is only available to those riders who are able to control their horse at all times. Training Now accepting horses for training. Please contact the farm for more information on prices and packages. Horse Shows The riders of Foster Farm are invited and encouraged to set their sights on the show ring. We attend horse shows in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Minnesota. Riders will typically ride their own horses in the shows and there will be limited leasing of lesson horses for shows. The main reason for showing is to show off your ability to ride your horse well. Horse show fees will vary somewhat from show to show. There are standard fees that one must pay at each show such as class fees, office and drug fees, shavings, trailering fee, day care, groom tips, etc. Day Camps Foster Farm Day Camps are held a few times each year. At camp, students learn how to properly groom and tack up horses, prepare them for lessons and keep the barn area clean. We have visits from our veterinarian and farrier. Students ride at least twice per day, play games, learn stable management and end the week with a horse show and pizza party at the barn. Summer Camp costs $500 per week and is held from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily. We also offer single day camps periodically throughout the year. Our Single Day Camps cost $85 per day and are held from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Our Single Day Camps are a condensed version of our Summer Camps and are filled with fun filled horse activities that include riding, vaulting, driving, and general horse care.
